    This camp is designed to bring out the musician + artist in you! Don’t worry about knowing your way around a melody. By the end of the week, musician and educator Carolyn McLeod will have you playing a tune and creating some harmonious art to accompany it!

    Let music inspire your choice of colours & style for a musical painting, learn to write an original song and then add a melody & beat, explore ways to make music with every-day objects, create a box drum and rubber band guitar, experiment with water glass chimes, and art-up your own unique instruments. Who said music theory was boring? Not us!

    Supportive Arts Program for Young Adults with (dis)Abilities – Fall 2022 to Spring 2023

    An inclusive, all abilities art and mindfulness workshop for young adults with (dis)abilities 18+

    SUPPORTIVE ARTS is a unique program supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, offering arts-based learning opportunities and compelling artistic experiences to individuals with (dis)abilities living in the community. We welcome adults and caregivers from Wellington County and the surrounding areas to our weekly program. Led by ECFTA Arts Educators and Mindfulness Coaches.  The Supportive Arts program has now expanded to 4 sessions per week.

    THE PROGRAM: Join us for a guided 2-hour workshop, specifically designed to support adults of all abilities. Each session, we will embrace diversity and friendship through explorations in art making, movement, mindfulness and music. Every week is as unique as each of our participants!  Supportive Arts is offered free of charge to all participants and support companions, thanks to the generous support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

    Tapestry weaving is a medium of artistic expression that is both ancient and modern. It is a way of ‘painting’ with yarn that uses texture, colour and line as part of the process. It is a slow meditative practice that can be described as a form of moving meditation. Join Dianne Kennedy Cruttenden for a day of fun with fibre in this free-spirited weaving workshop. This class is for new weavers and for those who have the basics and wish to explore new techniques. Dianne brings her wealth of knowledge and spirit of adventure to this 51/2 hour class. We will explore the art of tapestry weaving through a variety of techniques such as; plain weave, rya knots, soumak, eccentric weave and irregular hatching, whilst playing with form, colour and texture. Participants will go home with a finished tapestry ready to hang. This is a great way to begin your weaving adventure without the cost of an expensive loom!

Woodburning, however, requires various different techniques to create texture, lines and tonal values and is a much slower process. Join Pyrography Artist Heather Martin of FireWork Designs to begin or expand your knowledge of woodburning while you create your own usable, giftable cherry or ambrosia maple charcuterie board. Heather will guide you through various woodburning techniques to incorporate texture and interest to your piece. You will also learn about recommended woods and other helpful hints as you work your way through this immersive process. Join artist David Caesar for this fun and exciting workshop covering the basics of drawing portraits from both life and photographs. David teaches a classical approach which incorporates high realism, with a focus on skill building. He works in the way of the old masters using keen observation and focused critique. His own work is highly detailed and masterful and his class environment encourages students to challenge themselves! During the workshop, David will review the basic proportions of the head and face and move on to a methodology of capturing the likeness of our subject.  You will start by drawing each other (bring your happy face!) and move on to working from photos for a final project. From basic structure to final rendering, students will come away with a new understanding of the portrait drawing process and have the tools to embark on their own projects with confidence! Most popularly known for her ability to capture the illusion of flow on an otherwise static canvas, Maryam Ebrahimi, a Canadian-Iranian artist, is an exquisite professionally trained artist living in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  Her pieces have been showcased both nationally and abroad.  Over the years, Maryam developed an artistic style that is uniquely her own. Her use of a limited colour pallet, combined with heavy layers and seamless brush strokes, results in artwork that is full of depth and personality, and tells a vivid story that is full of emotion.
