A bit about the Artist:
“A Moment in Time” by emerging artist Maureen Ault captures the idea that all of us share similar experiences and moments in our lives that leave lasting impressions upon us. The artist utilizes the smallest elements to create big impact – each piece consists of hundreds of tiny botanical materials like petals, leaves, grasses, ferns, and bark to recreate her memories of significant moments we share. Maureen spends countless hours in florists, greenhouses and gardens looking for the right material for each piece, as well as working directly with pressed flower companies. Particular attention is paid to the properties of the elements selected – such as veining and colour. The landscape images she captures are literally made of the landscape itself, and are a powerful reminder that “life can be found in the details”. It is also a testament to the strength of human spirit, and how life’s obstacles can be overcome to find the many tiny joys that are in front of us if we choose to see them.
The artist would like to thank the Ontario Arts Council: Deaf and Disability Arts Projects-Production for their support to help make this exhibition a reality.

The Art Centre is at the threshold of an exciting new chapter, and we invite you to take the next step with us! As both our organization and the communities we serve grow, we need to address some of the physical constraints of our two galleries and classroom, to help break down barriers to participation in the arts.
