Woodburning has endless possibilities when it comes to creating images, similar to drawing with pencil on paper. Woodburning, however, requires various different techniques to create texture,
lines and tonal values and is a much slower process. Join Pyrography Artist Heather Martin of FireWork Designs to begin or expand your knowledge of woodburning while you create your own usable, giftable charcuterie board.
Heather will guide you through various woodburning techniques to add texture and interest to your 8″x 10″ charcuterie board. You will also learn about recommended woods and other helpful hints as you work your way through this immersive process using a (variable temperature) walnut hollow versa tool!
It’s always fun to learn with a friend, with no experience in drawing or woodburning, this makes the perfect class to relax and enjoy the afternoon together! No Experience Necessary. All materials provided.
Included in class fee:
8”x10” Charcuterie Board (supplied by Sideroad Creations,
Centre Wellington)
1oz Board Cream (supplied by B Candle, Rockwood)
Practice wood and graphite paper with birch tree design options.
(Masks and finger protectors are also available upon request)
About the instructor:
Heather Martin, of FireWork Designs, is a practicing Pyrography Artist
in Fergus Ontario that has been woodburning for almost a decade. Her
passion for creating is shown in her unique woodburned designs
completed on a mix of locally sourced woods. The pyrography classes
Heather teaches are perfect for beginners or seasoned pyrography
students that are ready to bring their art to the next level.
From the lines and patterns naturally in the wood to the slow immersive process of woodburning. Heather is drawn to the extensive depth and texture attainable with the medium that is almost sculptural. Heather completed her Bachelor’s of Arts at University of Toronto and Sheridan Institute in Art and Art History. She specialized in Sculpture, Print Media and Photography. The accumulation of her interests are quite apparent in her work. Her burnings are available in a variety of forms from wall art & portraits to usable household items like charcuterie boards, spoons, ornaments and more. Her burnings are available at Local Pieces Gallery in Fergus.
