Sculptural in their textured relief, and dazzlingly vivid in their painterly colour, these works awaken both body and spirit. Eva McCauley: Solas agus Scath
March 26 – April 26, 2009: opening reception Thursday March 26, 7:30 pm. The exhibition’s title (pronounced “Solas aguss Scah”) means “Light and Shadow” in Irish Gaelic. Work for the exhibition draws upon McCauley’s experience at the Cill Rialaig artist’s residency, County Kerry, on Ireland’s rugged southwestern coastline. In the isolated village, McCauley experienced the dislocation of being in a foreign place, coupled with an intensity of memory. McCauley’s work includes paintings and monotypes.
