In this workshop, participants will learn the process of painting with melted beeswax on canvas to create a wax resist pattern. The canvas will then be dyed, and the wax removed to reveal a beautiful batik wall hanging.

Batik has its roots in Asia with Indonesia being the most well-known for the art form. The term batik originates from the Javanese words “amba” and “nitik” which refer to both the length and width of a piece of cloth and the process of applying small dots by hand to create an intricate pattern.
