Jung-Chul Hur: Feed

February 12 – March 22 : opening reception Thursday February 12, 7:30 pm.

The Minarovich Gallery is thrilled to feature the incredible video installation FEED, of international artist Jung-Chul Hur. Jung-Chul Hur is an artist, designer, curator, lecturer and also a VJ, born in Masan, Korea in 1972. He did his B.F.A in Industrial Design (Major: Visual Communication Design) at the Konkuk University in Chungju, Korea, from where he went on to complete an M.A. in Visual Communication at the Kent Institute of Art & Design in the UK between 1999 and 2000. His work, which encompasses video, animation and sound, has been shown at international festivals in Asia, Europe, and South and North America. He is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand, where he teaches Communication Design at the School of Architecture & Design, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT).

In this installation, entitled FEED, Jung-Chul Hur offers us a version of life, which has been recorded, dissected, duplicated and reassembled, as if our world was a house of mirrors. Feed combines specific visual and sound elements from our world, which echo together in an entrancing interaction, allowing us access to the meditative dialogue of ideas behind this video installation.
