Join Loops, Layers, Shapes & Shadows exhibition artist Heejung Shin for an introduction to Korean MINHWA painting!
Minhwa, meaning “folk painting” in Korean were paintings by and for ordinary people during the Joseon Dynasty, 1392-1910.
Featuring bright, bold colour, symbolic and stylized forms, and themes of good fortune, health, and happiness, Minhwa is created on Hanji mulberry paper, using pigment and brushes. You will go home with you own Peony (Moran) folk painting!

Matt Morris is a community snow sculptor and small boat designer/builder based in Waterloo Ontario. He is driven to develop new ways to have fun in the outdoors and finds joy in sharing what he learns. His boat explorations have involved designing and building three boats. His first was the world’s first three part, nesting, skin on frame row boat. And his latest canoe weighs just over 11 pounds.

Birds of Becoming is a hands-on sculpture workshop centred on making a bird form as a container for personal reflection and becoming.
Professional sculptor Carole Chaloupka approaches sculpture as a meaningful creative practice—one in which the act of shaping an object by hand allows form, intention, and meaning to emerge together.
Let's gather in the gallery, surrounded by the art of Phil Irish's exhibition 'Companion Animals' and be inspired and connected through his story and sharing of his creative practice.
Phil Irish’s illustrated lecture mixes travelogue, creative insight, and ecological understanding. Join him on the tall ship Antigua, traveling with an international roster of artists. Glimpse the creative processes - from sketchbooking, research, experimentation and creation – that reveal how Irish chases his creative intuitions.
