AFTER THE GROUP OF SEVEN. LAWREN HARRIS, AUTUMN ALGOMA 1920
Join this beginner to intermediate oil panting workshop with artist Rick Worthington to create a master copy of Lawren Harris’s painting, Autumn Algoma, 1920. In this vibrant early work, Harris captures the bold colour and structure of the Northern Ontario landscape in fall—golden foliage, sculptural trees, and luminous sky.
Copying a master’s work is one of the most effective ways to deepen your understanding of technique and style.
In this class, you’ll learn how to break the landscape into simplified shapes, explore Harris’s rich yet balanced autumn palette, build strong colour harmony, and apply confident brushwork to evoke light and form while staying true to his stylized approach.
With personalized instruction and demonstrations, you’ll gain practical tools to strengthen your own painting practice!
Please note, there is a $25 kit fee payable in cash to the instructor at the start of class.
All materials are provided in the kit fee.
Kit fee includes oil paint, a canvas, odourless solvent, reference
image, grey scale for colour mixing, brushes etc
