Join multi-disciplinary artist and Elora-good-egg Peter Skoggard for a playful introduction to chalk pastel!
Peter has drawn over a thousand pastel self-portraits, and a further two hundred portraits of local characters over the past 4 years, so he has learned how to take the fear out of one of the most difficult subjects: the human face!
Peter will begin the class with an introduction to materials with a light-hearted exercise; Draw a zucchini! Draw two marbles! Add cherry tomato cheeks or a red chili pepper mouth, all on an oval plate! Voila! A face!
The remainder of the class, students will be working from their own source photo using chalk pastels on toned pastel paper to create their own loose and lively portrait or self-portrait.
- Students are asked to bring a source photo for their portrait.
- Mirrors are available in the classroom for those who wish to tackle a self-portrait.
All materials are included and all levels of ability are welcome.
