Join us on a Creative Adventure and step into play, where we take you a journey of discovery!
These retreats welcomes all creative spirits.
Creative Adventures is designed specifically for non-artists – no experience required – just a willingness to be open-minded and embrace play! Our goal is not to teach you to be a painter but rather, to expose you to a number of different creative activities that allow you to figure out what really sparks your interest. It is about play, experimentation and getting your hands messy. Remember what it felt like to do art classes as a child? We want to reintroduce you to that enthusiastic experience trading “perfection” for movement and guided creative freedom!
Encaustic (Beeswax) Painting
This fun and informative workshop covers all the information you need to explore the wonderful world of encaustic painting. Perfect for beginners and artists alike who are looking to explore this spontaneous process of painting with beeswax.
All supplies included. You will play with building and fusing layers of beeswax, using a variety of hot tools and techniques. Create your own masterpieces through adding and subtracting to create texture or reveal shapes and colours below. Incorporating mark-making techniques, you will blend intention with spontaneity, allowing each piece to evolve organically. Techniques including incising, embed materials, photo transfers, use of the stylus tool, pan pastels, oil stick, stencils and indian ink will all be covered.
At the end of each day, celebrate your creative achievements with new friends and take home your masterpiece and treasured memories.

All you need to do is get yourself there!
Everything you need will be ready for you including all artist grade supplies for the workshop. We start the morning with creativity exercises and then move into embracing the painting medium of the day. Additional techniques are introduced throughout the afternoon.
Each guest will work on a 6″x6″ panel, an 8″x8 panel and multiple ‘postcards” studies.
Refreshments, continental breakfast and light lunch provided throughout the day.
COST
$375 + HST or $600 + HST if you register for both Encaustic and Abstract Painting Creative Adventure Workshops – a savings of $150
Etransfer payment is preferred. If paying with a credit card a small 2.5% service fee will be added to the cost.

Minimum registration required to host event. In the unlikely event that we do not fill a workshop, we will reach out to you as soon as possible and no later than one week prior to the event date.

Meet Angela
Angela Kuipers Lane is an impressionistic encaustic painter whose richly coloured work reflects the awe, resilience, and interconnectedness of the natural world. She finds an ideal human narrative mirrored in nature—rooted in connection, regrowth, and energy.
Angela is honoured to be participating in the ReWild exhibition, on at the Elora Centre For The Arts — May 21 – July 10.
