Elora Adventure Film Festival Speaker Event: Stories of Expeditions and ‘Where the Falcon Flies’ with Adam Shoalts

In this speaker series event, Adam will share stories and photos from his expeditions, and discuss his most recent book Where the Falcon Flies: A 3,400 km Odyssey from My Doorstep to the Arctic.
The event is approximately 1 hour, including Q&A.

About the Speaker:
Professional adventurer Adam Shoalts has been called “one of the greatest living explorers” by the CBC and is a national bestselling author of five books. His best known journeys include crossing nearly 4,000 km of Canada’s Arctic alone and more recently paddling from Lake Erie to the Arctic.
Shoalts’s work has been featured in media around the world, including the BBC, CNN, CTV, CBC, Reader’s Digest, the Washington Post, The Guardian and many others. In 2016, Shoalts was named a national champion of the Trans-Canada Trail and in 2018 Explorer-in-Residence of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. In 2021, he was asked by the Writers’ Trust of Canada to serve as a judge for the Weston Prize, Canada’s largest nonfiction book award. In 2022 he was presented with the Louie Kamookak Medal, named for the famed Inuit oral historian, for his work “making Canada better known to Canadians and the world” by Chief Perry Bellegarde, former National Chief of Assembly of First Nations and President of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. In 2024, he was named an Ambassador for Outward Bound Canada.
Shoalts has a particular concern for preserving wild places and has been involved with many conservation organizations. In 2008, he received the Niagara Region’s environmental award for his work preserving local watersheds. When not on expeditions, Shoalts is a popular guest speaker.
