Exhibition: ‘Fly Me Away’ by Maryam Ebrahimi

Exhibition by Maryam Ebrahimi:  ‘Fly Me Away – finding your way and soaring with love’  Artist Reception: Sunday April 23, 2023 from 2-4PM Most popularly known for her ability to capture the illusion of flow on an otherwise static canvas, Maryam Ebrahimi, a Canadian-Iranian artist, is an exquisite professionally trained artist living in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  Her pieces have been showcased both nationally and abroad.  Over the years, Maryam developed an artistic style that is uniquely her own. Her use of a limited colour pallet, combined with heavy layers and seamless brush strokes, results in artwork that is full of depth and personality, and tells a vivid story that is full of emotion. Ebrahimi’s latest collection titled, “Fly Me Away,” is a story about love, family and isolation during a global pandemic. Each piece features feathered brush strokes that emerge from the canvas as birds, representing Maryam’s migration to Canada and a longing to see her family once more. Similar in shape to the first letter of the Farsi alphabet, the birds are a nod to her native tongue. The mixed layers of paint, with a strong base and lighter overlays, are a reflection of the intricacies of our personal relationships and wellbeing. As the pandemic prolonged, the collection evolved, and the birds transformed into feathers, floating through air with no purpose or place to settle. A building of layers topped with a glaze for transparency represents her family’s bond and the value she places on meaningful relationships. Maryam’s life is a rich tapestry of global experiences, all of which influence the professional fine artist she is today. Skilled in a number of mediums, she most enjoys creating abstract paintings with acrylics, but is also recognized for her landscape and floral paintings. Moved by the rhythmic sounds of Adele, music and art—in its many forms – encompasses all aspects of Maryam’s life. Maryam is an exquisite artist. Everything she does is from the heart and it leaves a lasting impression on all that she creates.
