This introductory 2 session workshop in Fine Silver Metal Clay will astonish and delight you!
Silver Metal Clay feels like a dense, heavy clay, but is actually minute particles of silver mixed with water and a cellulose based binder. Friday evening, we will explore all manner of textures, found objects, commercial materials, and plan our launch into using the malleable silver clay on day 2.
On the Saturday, we will create, refine and dry our silver, and during a later lunch break, the pieces will be fired at 1650 degrees F in Patrice’s travelling kiln. The remainder of the day will entail finishing details of the pieces, creating patina if desired, and adding components to make your unique wearable art pieces.
You will be amazed at the compliments you will receive when you wear your art, AND, watch the look of disbelief when you say ‘I made this myself’!
Please note: there is a $90 kit fee to cover the cost of materials, payable by cash, e-transfer, visa or MasterCard to Patrice at the start of class.
- All materials included in the kit fee.
- Kit fit includes 25 grams of pure fine silver, a sterling chain and a pair of sterling ear wires.
- Expect to make approximately 5-7 smaller pieces, or 3-5 larger pieces.
