Jean Prichard
Treasurer
Jean is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA CA) and Licensed Public Accountant. She is an Audit partner at BDO Canada LLP, based out of the Guelph office. Her thirty year career has allowed her the opportunity to work with many Not for Profit and Charitable organizations in different capacities. She has also worked extensively within the manufacturing and retail sectors. Jean obtained an Honours B.A. in English Literature from McGill University. Her first job, which later became a full-time job, involved working in various capacities over many years for an organization that provides a summer camp experience in Haliburton for children experiencing poverty or other adversity from communities in Toronto. This involvement was the beginning of Jean’s interest in working with Not-for-Profit and Charitable organizations. Jean then completed the requirements for the CPA CA designation while working at an Accounting Firm in Toronto. Jean has been an Elora resident for more than twenty years. She and her pilot husband Leigh, who happily fled the Big Smoke in 1999, have really enjoyed raising their kids in this great community. All three of their now-grown children have been lucky enough to attend either school or extra-curricular activities at the Elora Centre for the Arts. Jean has been a long-time volunteer with various community organizations. She was the Treasurer for many years of the United Way of Guelph Wellington Dufferin and currently sits on the board of Directors of the Centre Wellington Community Foundation. She helped found the Rotary Club of Centre Wellington Centennial and was honoured to be its second President. Jean’s three children are now “mostly” gone from home and she and Leigh are enjoying being empty nesters – notwithstanding the fact that there are still four fur babies in their house. Jean can often be seen trying to coax her canines to walk nicely around the block. Jean and Leigh enjoy spending time at their cottage in Lurgan Beach, and they also do a lot of international travel with friends. Jean is excited to be able to serve the ECFTA and looks forward to helping this lively organization continue to grow and prosper in our community.
