SUMMARY:MONET HAYSTACKS 1890. IMPRESSIONIST OIL PAINTING WITH RICK WORTHINGTON
DESCRIPTION:MONET HAYSTACKS IMPRESSIONIST PAINTING WITH RICK WORTHINGTON \nPainting Light! Step into the luminous world of Claude Monet and discover how colour can become your most expressive tool. \nIn this beginner-intermediate oil painting workshop\, artists will investigate the techniques Claude Monet used to capture shifting light\, fleeting moments\, and atmospheric nuance\, focusing especially on his iconic Haystacks series. \n \nStudying a master’s work has long been one of the most effective ways to grow as a painter. In this one-day session\, we’ll explore how Monet used colour — rather than detail — to capture light\, atmosphere\, and time of day. Through simplified forms\, expressive brushwork\, and thoughtful colour relationships\, you’ll learn how to suggest changing light and build a cohesive palette inspired by Monet’s approach to temperature and harmony. \n\nSuitable for painters with some oil experience. \n Demonstrations and individual instruction will be provided throughout the day. \nPlease note\, there is a $25 kit fee payable in cash to the instructor at the start of class.\nAll materials are provided in the kit fee.; oil paint\, canvas\, odourless solvent\, brushes\, reference image \n

SUMMARY:BIRDS OF BECOMING. SCULPTURE WITH CAROLE CHALOUPKA
DESCRIPTION:BIRDS OF BECOMING WITH ELORA SCULPTOR CAROLE CHALOUPKA \nBirds of Becoming is a hands-on sculpture workshop centred on making a bird form as a container for personal reflection and becoming. \nProfessional sculptor Carole Chaloupka approaches sculpture as a meaningful creative practice—one in which the act of shaping an object by hand allows form\, intention\, and meaning to emerge together. \n \nIn this workshop\, Carole guides participants through a considered\, step-by-step sculptural process using a lightweight\, Japanese stone clay. The method is clear and well-structured\, while leaving space for individual expression.  \nBirds have long appeared across cultures as powerful symbols of transition\, freedom\, and inner movement – creatures that move between earth and sky\, matter and spirit. In Birds of Becoming\, the bird form serves as a quiet\, sculptural metaphor\, allowing participants to work with ideas of change\, resilience\, and attention through making. \nParticipants may choose to colour their clay prior to sculpting\, or paint after drying. Completed birds can either be mounted as a freestanding sculpture on a small wooden base\, or become a suspended sculptural form incorporating glass beads. \nAll materials are provided\, and participants will leave with a completed sculptural piece. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with prior art experience who are interested in sculpture as a reflective\, process-led practice. \nSculptor Carole Chaloupka approaches sculpture as a deeply rewarding creative journey–one where the maker shapes an object with their own hands\, imbuing it with personal meaning and intention. \n\n  \nPlease note there is a $25 kit fee\, payable to Carole at the start of class. All materials are included in the kit fee. \nThere is a minimum of 6 to run this class. Fees will be fully refunded if class is not able to run. \nContact us for more info.

SUMMARY:ABSTRACT PAINTING - CREATIVE ADVENTURES WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT PAINTING – CREATIVE ADVENTURES WORKSHOP \nwith Kate Taylor \nSaturday\, June 20\, 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM \nJoin us on a Creative Adventure and step into play\, where we take you a journey of discovery! \n \nThese retreats welcomes all creative spirits.\nCreative Adventures is designed specifically for non-artists – no experience required – just a willingness to be open-minded and embrace play! Our goal is not to teach you to be a painter but rather\, to expose you to a number of different creative activities that allow you to figure out what really sparks your interest. It is about play\, experimentation and getting your hands messy. Remember what it felt like to do art classes as a child? We want to reintroduce you to that enthusiastic experience trading “perfection” for movement and guided creative freedom! \nAbstract Painting\nAbstract art uses a visual language of shape\, form\, colour and line that can be inspired by something specific but is not representational. It relies heavily on emotion and composition to hold together.  Working with a palette knife\, Kate will teach techniques and play\, using the woodgrain as a key component.  \nAt the end of each day\, celebrate your creative achievements with new friends and take home your masterpiece and treasured memories. \nINCLUDED\nAll you need to do is get yourself there! \nEverything you need will be ready for you including all artist grade supplies for the workshop. We start the morning with creativity exercises and then move into embracing the painting medium of the day. Additional techniques are introduced throughout the afternoon.  \nEach guest will work on a 6″x6″ panel\, an 8″x8 panel and multiple ‘postcards” studies. \nRefreshments\, continental breakfast and light lunch provided throughout the day. \nCOST\n$375 + HST or $600 + HST if you register for both Encaustic and Abstract Painting Creative Adventure Workshops – a savings of $150\nEtransfer payment is preferred. If paying with a credit card a small 2.5% service fee will be added to the cost. \nTO REGISTER\nSimply email Angela and Kate at Creative Adventures: creativeadventuresevents@gmail.com indicating the workshop(s) you would like to attend. We will send you an email confirming your booking and invoice.  \nMinimum registration required to host event. In the unlikely event that we do not fill a workshop\, we will reach out to you as soon as possible and no later than one week prior to the event date. \nFOR MORE INFORMATION\nVisit my website: https://www.angelalanestudio.com/workshop/41985/creative-adventure-greater-toronto-area-elora

SUMMARY:AFTER VAN GOGH. OIL PAINTING WITH RICK WORTHINGTON
DESCRIPTION:THE STARRY NIGHT. POST-IMPRESSIONISM WITH RICK WORTHINGTON \nJoin artist Rick Worthington for this beginner to intermediate oil painting workshop\, inspired by the Post‑Impressionist vision of Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. Explore how Van Gogh used bold\, directional brushstrokes and striking colour contrasts to infuse the night sky with movement and emotion. \n \nRather than focusing on fine detail\, this workshop encourages a looser\, more expressive approach—aimed at capturing the rhythm\, light\, and energy of the scene. \nThroughout the day\, we’ll experiment with mixing luminous blues and vibrant yellows\, keeping colours clean\, and using confident\, textured brushwork to build depth and atmosphere. Demonstrations will guide you through each stage of the process\, and individual support will help you develop your own expressive style. \nThis workshop is ideal for beginners with some painting experience as well as intermediate painters looking to loosen up and explore impressionistic techniques. \nAll skill levels welcome. Just bring your enthusiasm! \n\n  \nPlease note: \n\nStudents are welcome to bring their own supplies\, or a $25 material kit will be available for purchase.\nA recommended materials list will be provided in advance for those bringing their own supplies.\n\n  \n\n$25 Kit Fee Option\, payable to Rick in cash at the start of class includes oil paint\, a canvas\, odourless solvent\, reference image\, grey scale palette for mixing\, brushes etc.\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:PETER SKOGGARD'S NEW OPERA "MME LAVOISIER" - FUNDRAISER
DESCRIPTION:ANNOUNCING PETER SKOGGARD’S NEW OPERA \nMME LAVOISIER \nFUNDRAISING LAUNCH\n2 selections from the Opera & Silent Auction  \nWednesday\, June 24th\, 7-9pm\nElora Centre for the Arts \nWith Librettist Bridget K. Gole\,  Peter Skoggard has completed the three acts of his third opera. Mme Lavoisier is based on the life of Marie Anne Lavoisier\, the wife and close scientific collaborator of Antoine-Laurent Lavoisier\, widely regarded as the father of modern chemistry. More than a spouse\, Marie Anne played a vital role in documenting\, illustrating\, translating\, and advancing his scientific work. The opera depicts her early life\, their courtship and marriage\, and their excitement of discovery. However\, the French Revolution is brewing\, and they are targeted. Love and death abound. Welcome to the world of opera! \nWe are looking for financial backing to launch a concert performance of this in the winter of 2027\, and are therefore planning a fundraising and awareness event for June 24th at the Elora Centre for the Arts\, 7 to 9 pm.  Bridget and I will be there to describe the process of writing words and music. At the event\, we will have two of the singers perform from the opera to give the audience just a taste. Also included will be  a  Silent Auction with art work and gift certificates from local shopkeepers .

SUMMARY:Meet & Greet artist Stan Olthuis\, Opening Reception for 'Interconnected' exhibition
DESCRIPTION:You are warmly invited to join us in the gallery for a special summer opening reception celebrating ‘Interconnected’\, a new exhibition by Peterborough artist Stan Olthuis. Meet Stan in person as we officially welcome him to our space and explore the ideas behind his work. \n \n‘Interconnected’ is a thoughtful exploration of roots\, resilience\, and intergenerational exchange. Inspired by sacred geometry and ancient symbols formed by intersecting circles\, the exhibition reflects on how seemingly opposing forces can come together to create something entirely new. This powerful form\, found across cultures and civilizations\, speaks to the emergence of connection\, where relationship\, rather than division\, gives rise to new possibilities. \nThrough these works\, visitors are invited to reflect on the ways our lives\, communities\, and natural systems are deeply intertwined\, continually shaped by exchange\, connection\, and shared experience. \nCome gather with us in the gallery to connect\, exchange ideas\, and celebrate creativity in a welcoming atmosphere. Refreshments will be served\, and admission is free. \nFor more information about the artist and the exhibition\, please click here.
