Tar Sands CURATORIAL STATEMENT
Perspectives on Canadian Tar Sands and the Northern Gateway Pipeline
Canadians have always cared deeply for the environment, we pride ourselves on the natural wealth of our country, but balancing considerate environmental policies and financial growth remains a challenge.
From May 17th to July 8th the Minarovich Gallery at the Elora Center for the Arts is featuring the works of three artists and a not-for profit youth media art organization. Ufuk Gueray,?Verne Harrison,?Franke James?and Reel Youth are coming together in the group exhibition to offer us their perspectives on the contrasting values of Canadian oil and our dependence and interconnectedness to the land. Let’s come together to view the featured works and discuss the ideas and solutions they engender. We can find ways to be prosperous while respecting and celebrating our land and all it’s inhabitants.
