The Elora Connection: A Painting Exhibition at the Minarovich Gallery

December 6, 2012 – January 20, 2013 Opening Reception: Saturday December 8, 2012. 4pm – 7pm Curated by Cheryl Ruddock “The Elora Connection” celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Elora Centre for the Arts. The participating artists all have a strong, long-standing creative connection to Elora as a workplace, gathering place, and shared landscape of inspiration. The roots of this exhibition are in the Riverside Studio of Elora, a project by master printmaker Stu Oxley which has connected artists for 30 years, drawing them from near and far to meet, discuss and create new works. This is a branching out of connections made there. Each artist will show one large-size painting—something particular for this special occasion. Abstraction is a common theme, but there is nothing common about how any of these artists achieve it. Viewers are invited to come and explore different methods and meanings of achieving abstraction in painting. Each piece will offer a different perspective, and so the walls of the Minarovich Gallery will be decked with a kind of conversation: piece to piece, and all as one. The community is invited to come and join in, to make the conversation even more vivid. The Minarovich Gallery is open Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday, 12noon – 4pm. Located at the Elora Centre for the Arts 75 Melville Street Elora, ON N0B 1S0 519-846-9698
