We will be completing in-class exercises and students will be encouraged to develop their own work at their own pace. We will focus on materials, techniques and methods, and we will also have time for individual and group critique. We will be looking at the work of historical and contemporary artists for inspiration, while exploring a variety of ways of working. Class will be guided for first 3 weeks. The second half of course will be guided in first part, working time and feedback in second half of class. This class will be fun and friendly and we encourage artists to engage with other students in the class. All skill levels and experience are welcome!

Wake up the weekend in an immersive morning with Donna Hull and learn the drawing 101’s from an art educator with more than 30 years of experience teaching, both in the classroom and beyond! This 5-week series will focus on the wonders of nature, drawing beautiful, organic shapes such as shells and rocks, mushrooms, and root vegetables for the first 3-4 weeks and finishing with their choice of a naturalistic animal portrait. A Deer or Hare! Fundamental Drawing skills are woven into each weekly lesson and home play exercises are encouraged! Our young artists will work on paper and be introduced to artist quality drawing materials and tools such as graphite sticks, mechanical erasers, tortillion blending sticks, kneadable erasers and more!

    In this workshop, artist INGA GIRCYTE will guide you in a free and relaxed approach to STILL LIFE using few techniques which will help you to loosen up and gain more confidence when approaching painting with acrylic. Inga will show you how to combine different mediums together to achieve unique and expressive results!     At the Elora Centre for the Arts, we strive to support ALL children who would like to attend our summer camps. If your child could benefit from a one-on-one companion through the Supporting Kids in Camp program, please visit cmhaww.ca  The CMHA Waterloo Wellington provides trained and experienced Support Counsellors, so all children can benefit from participating in community camps. There is no cost to families for this program!

February 1 - March 17, 2024 (admission is free) 'Journey to the Metaverse' is a 3D visual music experience in the gallery at the Elora Centre for the Arts.  The aim of this project is to introduce new audiences to the metaverse of synesthesia by generating 3D computer art from music. Synesthesia means one sensation triggering another automatically, such as a sound making you think of colour, or certain words making you think of a taste.
