SUMMARY:Contemporary Wall Sculpture | Ceramics with Inga Gircyte
DESCRIPTION:CONTEMPORARY WALL SCULPTURE  |  CERAMICS with INGA GIRCYTE  \nFrom Domestic Object to ⇨ Contemporary Sculpture \n2 Thursday evening ceramic workshop! \nThursday\, April 27 | 6:00-9 pm \nThursday\, May 11 | 6:00-9 pm \nOnly 6 spots only available for this workshop! \nAges 16+ \n$175 plus HST \n$20 kit fee payable in cash to instructor.  All materials provided in kit fee\, including glazing and firing. \n\nClay hanging on the wall? Yes!! Let’s look at the ceramics from a different angle! \nIn this limited-space workshop\, artist INGA GIRCYTE will guide you in the creation of a unique abstracted\, sculptural wall piece made from clay\, mimicking a domestic object. \nInga will lead you through this 2 evening bi-weekly process to achieve ready-to-hang\, MOMA-worthy results!  Will it be an exact look alike of the primary object or an abstract take! It’s up to you! \nIn this workshop you will learn: \n\nthe basic techniques of hand building\nbasic techniques of glazing and colour mixing\n\nWe will provide a number of objects from daily life from which to choose. Or if you have a favourite or sentimental object at home; your grandmothers’ egg beater\, a well-worn tool from your father’s workbench\, a vintage high heel or clutch; a retro game controller; an old-timey toaster or espresso percolator; your dad’s stuffed prized trout; your lucky push up bra? Bring it with you and turn it into an art piece with a deeper personal meaning. The weirder or more wonderful the better! \nMaximum size approx. 12”x12”. Please note\, to create a mould we will be covering these objects in clay and then remove it. \n \nEvening one\, 3 hours: hand building. \nEvening two\, 3 hours: paint and glaze \nWork will be fired and ready for pick up from our Artisan Shop by Tuesday\, May 15 through to Sunday May 21\, 2023 \nPlease note\, there is a $20 kit fee payable in cash to the instructor at the start of class to cover clay and firing. \nInga Gircyte is a Lithuanian multidisciplinary artist whose abstract painting has recently migrated from canvas onto ceramic sculpture. She hand-builds panels\, slabs\, and three dimensional hanging objects from clay. After firing them she then explores the irregular surface\, treating it like a canvas or a drawing paper using pigments and glazes\, glaze pencils and crayons\, spray paint and oil. To balance the two and three dimensional surface is Inga’s main challenge and ambition. \nInga holds a BFA of Drawing and Painting from OCAD University (2019) Toronto\, CA and BFA of Theater Directing from Klaipeda’s University\, Lithuania (2010) and is currently based in Elora\, Ontario. \nInstagram @inga.gircyte \n              \n \nIF YOU CANCEL \nCancellations up to 7 days prior to start date will receive a full refund\, less a $25 administrative fee. No refund of fees will apply to cancellations within 7 days of start date (fees may be applied/credited to an alternate workshop depending on availability). \nIF WE CANCEL \nTo help ensure the course you’re interested in runs\, we suggest you register no less than two weeks in advance. In the event of insufficient registrations ECFTA reserves the right to cancel workshops. You would be eligible for a full refund of fees\, or credit for a future workshop\, pending availability.

The pyrography classes Heather teaches are perfect for beginners or seasoned pyrography students that are ready to bring their art to the next level. \nFrom the lines and patterns naturally in the wood to the slow immersive process of woodburning. Heather is drawn to the extensive depth and texture attainable with the medium that is almost sculptural. Heather completed her Bachelor’s of Arts at University of Toronto and Sheridan Institute in Art and Art History. She specialized in Sculpture\, Print Media and Photography. The accumulation of her interests are quite apparent in her work. Her burnings are available in a variety of forms from wall art & portraits to usable household items like charcuterie boards\, spoons\, ornaments and more. SUMMARY:Giving Tuesday! Tuesday November 29th: Please support our youth outreach programs!
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE CONSIDER SUPPORTING OUR YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAMS FOR GIVING TUESDAY 2022! \nYOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT FOR 1 OR MORE KIDS IN CENTRE WELLINGTON!  \nOUR PROGRAMS: Youth sense of belonging and resilience have been rocked by the pandemic. Our Youth Outreach programs are designed to harness the power of community\, creativity and art to teach valuable life skills. Your generosity could sponsor 1 kid\, 2 kids or a kid for an entire session! \n \nOUR GOAL: We can’t run these youth programs without your help! Our goal is to raise $8\,000 for these outreach programs\, helping them all run in Winter/Spring 2023. \n \n\nEven before the pandemic\, less than half of students in Centre Wellington reported feeling a sense of belonging to their community\, and this gap is growing. The creative process allows us to meet youth where they’re at and give them a safe space to express themselves. In art\, there is no wrong answer. \nFor Giving Tuesday\, we are raising awareness and money for our Youth Outreach programs that serve kids with added obstacles: elementary and high school students with (dis)Abilities\, teens recovering from addiction\, and tweens looking to find their place in the world. Our goal is to address their severed connection with community\, utilizing the creative process to talk about feelings management\, teamwork\, resilience\, emotional expression and human connection. \n \nYOU CAN BRING ART AND HEALING INTO THE LIVES OF KIDS IN OUR COMMUNITY!\nSupport 1 kid for 1 class\, 2 kids for 1 class or a kid for an entire session! \n1. High School & Elementary Students with (dis)Abilibities: Community Connections Through Art \nThis program connects Centre Wellington students with (dis)abiities to important community conversations\, using art projects as the conduit for connection\, personal well-being\, belonging and mental health support. Projects emphasize collaboration and success through personal artistic expression. This is a bi-weekly program within the schools. \n1 kid\, 1 class = $20 | 2 kids\, 1 class = $50 | 1 kid\, full session = $550 \n2. The Nest! After School Program for Tweens \nThis program supports tweens age 10+ seeking to re-engage and re-connect with their peers in a safe\, creative and nurturing space. This social “maker space” encourages community building\, collaboration and creativity. Sessions are gently guided\, allowing for free flow of thoughts and ideas. Arts Centre facilitators provide supervision\, gently guided creative projects and support in this open flow\, gender diverse program. This is a weekly program. \n1 kid\, 1 class = $30 | 2 kids\, 1 class = $60 | 1 kid\, full session = $550 \n3. Youth Addiction & Recovery Program: The Healing Power of Art and Creative Expression \nIn partnership with Portage Ontario\, this program incorporates art and creative expression as the conduit for acceptance\, sharing and healing. It allows for emotional exploration\, coping strategies and discussions about the challenges of recovery. Run by Arts Centre educators\, engagement facilitators and a social worker. Each session is 6 weeks\, run twice weekly at the Arts Centre. \n1 kid\, 1 class = $45 | 2 kids\, 1 class = $90 | 1 kid\, full session = $400 \n  \nFor ways to give please click here!
