This performance is presented in partnership with Long & McQuade. \nNorah Spades and Jitterbug James make up The Vaudevillian\, bringing their high-energy Prohibition-era tunes to our outdoor stage. These two will make you laugh\, blush and dance about\, drinking mason jars of the moonshine as they play 1930s jugband\, ragtime numbers with washboard\, musical spoons\, resonator guitar\, tenor banjo\, mandolin\, teapot trumpet and mouth harp!  Shine your shoes & get ready to do the Skoodle Um Skoo!  You may even get the chance to play the washboard\, thimble or musical spoons during the performance! \n \nThe ‘Open Sky’ series is presented in partnership with our friends at Tribute Homes\, Sorbara Group of Companies and Storybrook Homes. \nAbout the Artist \nAn award-winning jugband-ragtime-blues duo\, The Vaudevillian consists of the old fashioned gentleman Jitterbug James\, and the sweet and sassy Norah Spades. \nWashboard. Resonator Guitar. Banjo. Musical Spoons. Never one to take himself too seriously\, his performances are marked by good humour and a warm atmosphere. A talented multi-instrumentalist\, Chris self-produced his debut hit Complicated\, which garnered over 400\,000 Spotify streams and was featured on several Spotify editorial playlists\, including New Music Friday and Mood Ring. Inspired by artists like Leon Bridges\, Childish Gambino\, and Daniel Caesar\, Chris brings a fresh yet timeless energy to every performance. Following the workshop\, enjoy a live reading and discussion as Kevin and Joanna share from their newly published works. \n \nJoin us for an inspiring evening that blends storytelling\, creative exploration\, and tactile art. \nThe event will open with a reading featuring two writers sharing both fiction and non-fiction work (approximately 20 minutes each)\, followed by a Q&A and open discussion with the audience. \nAfter the reading\, participants are invited to take part in a writing workshop that will offer insights into both fiction and non-fiction writing. Join this guided two-part workshop where you’ll explore the beauty of pyrography on paper. Learn how to create consistent lines\, intricate patterns\, and beautiful shading using burning techniques—all in a relaxed\, creative environment. No prior experience needed!  \n \nDay 1: Exploring Paper & Techniques \nBegin your journey into paper pyrography by understanding the unique qualities of various papers including Fabriano\, Arches and more. You’ll learn to choose the right paper—such as sizing\, weight\, texture of paper—to ensure optimal results. Techniques like stippling\, hatching\, and gradient burning will be introduced to add depth and texture to your designs. Additionally\, you’ll discover how to incorporate colour using watercolour to enhance your artwork. \nDay 2: Creating Artwork \nOn the second day\, you’ll apply the skills acquired to create a detailed pyrography artwork on professional paper in an 8×10 format. Guidance will be provided in transferring your design onto the paper\, executing pyrography techniques\, and layering colour.
