Please put “Fox” or “Hare” in the subject line!  \n \nAbout the artist: \nMegan is a self-taught artist with a passion for felting. In 2000 Megan and her husband purchased a farm in Australia that came with 400 fine wool merinos. She started explored felting\, spinning\, and weaving for the sheer enjoyment of being surrounded by incredible fibres. Megan returned to Canada in 2008 and began to combine her love of portraiture and needle felting. The switch from amateur to professional has been a recent decision. The response to Megan’s work has driven that path. Painting with wool to create realistic portraits and landscapes has been a natural progression from watercolour and pastel with exciting results. It is more organic and has a warmth and texture that makes the viewer want to reach out and touch it. Creating hats and other wearables from Felt has become an extension to Megan’s portraits. It gives her another avenue of using wool and fibre as a medium to create. \nwww.inthelineoffibre.ca  www.facebook.com/InTheLineofFibre \n \nIF YOU CANCEL \nCancellations up to 7 days prior to start date will receive a full refund\, less a $25 administrative fee. SUMMARY:Artist Reception: Meet and Mingle with Vera Kisseleva\, 'Making the Unfamiliar Familiar'
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the gallery to meet and mingle with artist Vera Kisseleva as she launches her solo exhibition\, ‘Making the Unfamiliar Familiar’ in the gallery at the Elora Centre for the Arts. \nRefreshments will be served.  Admission is free.  No registration required. \n \nThe essence of familiarity is the intangible and magical thing that connects us all to each other.  We are all different people\, with different life experiences and different joys and sorrows\, however somehow\, in the magic of finding those things where we are similar\, we find the glue that connects us.  When you immerse yourself in nature\, whether it is a walk through the forest or relaxing on the lake\, are you being present in the moment\, being curious\, paying attention to the little details?  Making the unfamiliar familiar is a challenge to look at things with new eyes\, to find something you recognize in those things that aren’t familiar.  It could be as simple as a shift in our mindset to be okay with change and those things that aren’t known to us.  To find glimpses of our past within new experiences\, to look for similarities in the world around us could be the secret to feeling more connected to one another\, and to our own history. \nVera Kisseleva is an established award-wining artist best known for her paintings inspired by the Canadian landscape and nature’s dazzling colours that she believes are a great joy to experience and share with her collectors. Born in Russia\, Vera studied fine arts in college and worked for years as a graphic designer and commercial artist. She is a Canadian painter\, now based in Fergus\, Ontario where she is inspired by the visual splendor of her new home. She has been a member of the Elora Fergus Studio Tour since 2019. \nTo find out more the artist and her exhibition please click here.
