We will be dividing our PA Day kids into 2 groups (ages 4-6 and 7-12) and working in both our cheery Art Classroom and the sunny Sparrow’s Nest Maker Space . \nLed by ECFTA Art Educators Alexa Collette and Stephanie Lines-Toohill. Our PD days are a balance of guided art instruction & learning in our art classroom\, and open-creative exploration in our maker space. Along with outdoor fresh air and play during breaks\, as always! \n \n\nAbout the Instructors \nAlexa Collette recently graduated from the BA program at the University of Guelph and has been facilitating workshops and camp experiences for the past few years and loving every minute of it! Alexa is a painter\, drawer\, loves creating murals\, and collaborating with the community. She is excited to create a space for art-making and exploration at the Elora Centre for the Arts! \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nStephanie Lines-Toohill brings her magical mix of compassion\, creativity\, and mindfulness to everything she does. She reminds us to pause and find wonder in unexpected places. She helps us let go of our worries and to be brave. Steph also runs Sparrow’s Nest Makerspace\, a collaborative community space of connection. You might find her on a forest walk where she finds calming inspiration and beautiful found objects. Stephanie has been leading youth art groups and community art opportunities for over 15 years. We’ll explore the tradition of plein air painting in the great outdoors\, with a nod to the Group of Seven\, and get some green-spiration from the Earth Art and Environmental Art movements. \n \nOur Summer Camps are led by ECFTA Art Educators and our cheery staff of Summer Students. Our Campers will be working in 2 groups in both our studio Art Classroom and sunny Maker Space. DESCRIPTION:Drawing Basics is designed for older kids 10 and up who love to draw and want to learn some new skills! Young artists will learn how to draw from observation and how to translate what we see into drawing. Led by artist Eileen MacArthur\, Eileen will guide the class in learning about line\, value\, and balance in composition. Artists will be experimenting with various wet and dry drawing material including graphite\, charcoal\, ink and watercolour. \n \nEach class\, we will be looking at the work of various contemporary and historical artists for inspiration! \nPlease send along a nut-free snack for a break and water bottle. We will be spending some time outside. Please ensure that clothing is weather appropriate.  \n\nMeet Eileen! \n \nEileen MacArthur is a practicing artist and arts educator with over 15 years of experience teaching art to adults and children at the Elora Centre for the Arts\, the Guelph School of Art\, Studiohere and the Art Gallery of Guelph. DESCRIPTION:Artist Eileen MacArthur is back in the ECFTA classroom to lead a fast and fun\, art-packed introduction to the basics of painting for young artists ages 8 +. \nEileen will offer guidance in observational painting techniques\, transfer-methods\, colour theory\, value\, brush handling and composition\, and how to break a painting down into more manageable parts! \n \nStudents will complete a large observational still life as well as a series of studies and exercises. Eileen is inspired by watching artist communities evolve and flourish! Stephanie has been leading youth art groups and community art opportunities for over 15 years. She champions the process of each artist as a curious explorer!
