SUMMARY:Sylvia Galbraith Photography Workshop presents "Photography Skills Level 1"

Galbraith has participated in residencies in Newfoundland\, Banff and Northern Ontario\, and has exhibited her work in solo shows as well as in numerous group exhibitions across Canada. She has photographs in corporate\, public and private collections throughout Canada\, and internationally\, and has received many awards and bursaries for her work. \nGalbraith has taught photography courses throughout Canada\, including for the University of Toronto\, University of Brandon\, MB\, Humber College\, and various arts organizations. She has been an Associate Faculty Member for Conestoga College’s Commercial Photography Certificate Program for the past 11 years. In response to the need for higher level photography training as local colleges and universities reduce their course offerings\, she has developed a series of courses that are based on the college-level programs she has developed over the years for various educational institutions.  Suitable for serious hobbyists\, those requiring photographic skills for their profession\, or those planning a career in photography\, this program includes training in camera skills\, studio photography and in digital editing. \nIn addition to her artistic practice\, Galbraith is actively involved in the arts community; she was a photographer for the Bonavista Biennale (2017 & 2019\, Newfoundland)\, and served a two-year term on the Board of Directors for the Elora Centre for the Arts. She is a member of The Elora Arts Council\, The Guelph Arts Council\, CARFAC\, and Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography in Toronto. Galbraith also curates exhibitions for corporate venues throughout the GTA and locally\, and is involved with the annual Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival in Toronto\, both as an artist and a curator. \n\n\nFor more information about Sylvia please visit her website.

DESCRIPTION: SOLD OUT\nSecond workshop added!  Create your own pair of custom felted wool slippers\, embellished with silk or yarn.  No sewing required! Designed as a full slipper with heel\, made in one piece using a plastic resist technique.  Your choice of colour. \nAll materials provided. \nAges 16+ \n$95 per person\, plus HST \nMax 15 participants (Minimum of 6 students required to offer this class). \n  \nAbout the Instructor: \nMegan is a self-taught artist with a passion for felting. In 2000 Megan and her husband purchased a farm in Australia that came with 400 fine wool merinos. She started explored felting\, spinning\, and weaving for the sheer enjoyment of being surrounded by incredible fibres. \nMegan returned to Canada in 2008 and began to combine her love of portraiture and needle felting. The switch from amateur to professional has been a recent decision. The response to Megan’s work has driven that path. Painting with wool to create realistic portraits and landscapes has been a natural progression from watercolour and pastel with exciting results. It is more organic and has a warmth and texture that makes the viewer want to reach out and touch it. \nCreating hats and other wearables from felt has become an extension to Megan’s portraits. It gives her another avenue of using wool and fibre as a medium to create. www.inthelineoffibre.ca
