DESCRIPTION:THE NEST!  THURSDAY AFTER-SCHOOL MAKER SPACE FOR TWEENS! \nFOR AGES 10+  |  Maximum 20 spots \nWINTER PROGRAM  |  JANUARY 19– March 30\, 2023 \nTHURSDAYS 3:30-5:30 \n*no session during March Break\, Thursday\, March 16. \n$5 PER SESSION  |  $50 for the entire 10 week session  \nRegister for all 10 weeks (no single date sign-ups or drop in).  \n**Please note\, The Nest will NOT run on School Closure Days. \nThe Nest WILL run on No Bus days 🙂 \nsold out\n \nThis is a subsidized program\, thanks to the generosity of our community on Giving Tuesday 2022 and donations received at our summer Creative Spark in the Yard event!   The actual cost per class is $17 per child ($170 per session).  If you are able to pay more for the program\, please consider making a discretionary donation towards future outreach programs at the Centre here. \nIf you would like to sign up for The Nest after the start date\, please contact us to arrange details!  Payment will be prorated. \nThe Nest After School Program for Tweens! \nA space to relax and create in our cheery classroom at the Elora Centre for the Arts! \nJust bring YOU! This is an open flow\, gender diverse space for gently guided creativity and gathering with friends. Student led projects will be guided by an ECFTA Arts Facilitators and volunteers. We encourage you to share any projects you’re working\, homework or non-digital games. \nEach week we will provide tea\, a snack\, a variety of materials each week and engagement. Supply donations are welcome! \n*Students will be asked to sign in and out independently. \n**Parents are not required to accompany their children for drop off or pick up. \n HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ~ Sign up to earn your Community Volunteer Hours as MENTORS! \n\nEach session\, the Elora Centre for the Arts offers complimentary spots in the NEST! \nIf you are a family with a child who could benefit from joining the Nest\, no questions asked\, please contact us. \n  \n\n  \n \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:OIL & COLD WAX ABSTRACT LANDSCAPES   \n2-DAY WORKSHOP with CAROLYN SHARP \nSATURDAY\, MARCH 25\, 2023  |  11 am – 4 pm \nSUNDAY\, MARCH 26\, 2023  |  11 am – 3 pm \nAGES 16+ | MAX. 8 \n$250 plus hst + $20 kit fee \n\nUnleash your creativity and make your own masterpiece using oil paint and cold wax medium. \nCarolyn will guide you towards creating atmospheric and colourful abstracted land & waterscape paintings on archival oil paper and cradled wood panels. \nYou will also learn ways to find compelling compositions and create colour harmony in your paintings. This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience\, so come explore\, experiment and get those creative juices going! \n \nMaterials List (students to bring) \n2 Cradled or flat wood panels. Please choose two of any of these size ranges: \n5 x 7 to 9 x 12 AND/OR        6 x 6 to 10×10 (available at Wyndham Art Supplies or Michaels). \nCreative catalyst Wedge straight edge rubber tool (available at Wyndham Art Supplies or other Fine Art supply store) or if you are unable to pick up\, Carolyn will provide a plastic substitute \n*Please bring 2 favourite landscape or waterscape images\, printed from your computer in black and white \n*Oils will be provided\, but please bring any favourite oil colours if there are colours you would like to work with. \n\nPlease note: A $20 KIT FEE is payable in cash to the instructor at the start of class. \nMaterials supplied by instructor in kit fee: \nCold Wax Medium\, Oil paints\, Odourless Solvent\, Oil Sticks and oil pastels\, Charcoal & Pencils\, Large sheets sketch paper\, Variety of mark making tools \n\nABOUT THE ARTIST \nCarolyn Sharp is an award-winning full-time artist living & working in beautiful Elora. Her paintings are imaginary\, intuitive\, soulful expressions depicting the lands and waters of Ontario in an abstracted manner. Her background in Interior Design provides her with a keen eye for creating colourful and compelling paintings in both acrylic and oil & cold wax. She began studying art in 2003\, and has trained with many highly regarded artists throughout North America. Carolyn exhibits her work through galleries\, the annual Elora Fergus Studio Tour\, and her private studio/gallery which is open to the public by appointment. DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY EXPLORERS | GUIDED ART 5-PACK FOR KIDS! \nwith RACHEL ABEL \nMarch 26-April 30\, 2023  |  9:30-11:30 am \nNo lesson Easter Sunday\, April 9. \nMax. 16  |  Ages 6-12 \n$100 for all 5 weeks (no hst)  |  All materials provided \nsold out\nJoin artist and ECFTA Arts Educator Rachel Abel for weekly art fundamentals to bring out the junior artist in you! Each week Rachel will offer young artists a guided art lesson designed to learn\, explore\, and get creative! Students will develop their skills in drawing\, painting and learn some theory to go along with them. \nClasses will be held in the ECFTA classroom and/or gallery each Sunday. \nPlease note\, this weekly art program is hosted by the Elora Centre for the Arts. \nPlease contact RACHEL at rae.can.draw@outlook.com for more information or to register. \n \nAbout the artist: \nRachel Abel (they/them) \nRachel is an artist\, trained in Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo.
