DESCRIPTION:MONDAY AFTERNOON 7-WEEK SERIES \nJoin us Mondays 12:30-3:00 pm this winter! Open Studio is designed as open-flow studio time\, loosely guided by artist Eileen MacArthur. \n \nThis series is for artists who have some experience and would like specific guidance to develop or resolve their work. Classes will offer both individual and group critiques\, as well as affording the students to opportunity to experiment with various methods and materials if they choose. The working environment will be collaborative and relaxed. \nEach week will start with a guided exercise for students to develop their critical thinking and studio practice. Week one students will start with some warm-up exercises\, make a material list and be asked to shop for their supplies for weeks 2-7. SUMMARY:BURNING ON PAPER! PAPER PYROGRAPHY WITH HEATHER MARTIN
DESCRIPTION:Join Pyrography artist Heather Martin of FireWork Designs for an introduction to the art of burning on paper! In this interactive 2-Sunday afternoon class students will have an opportunity to explore and practice creating consistent lines\, patterns\, and shading with burning on paper! \n \nBoth classes will begin with warm-up practice.  Week 1 will include practice burning on a few small samples of paper. By the end of day one artists will aim to have their burning complete and be ready to add color for week 2!  Week 2 will start by experimenting with layering colour (watercolour\, acrylic\, and ink) and masking using the same sample papers. \nOver the two Sundays\, Heather will offer guidance on: \n\npaper types and how they’re made\nwhich paper is safe to burn on and what to look for in selecting paper\ncomparison of Strathmore\, Stonehenge\, and hot vs cold press papers\nhow to prepare paper and experiment with layering other mediums\n\nNo experience necessary! \nPlease note\, there is a $10 kit fee\, payable in cash to the instructor at the start of class. Led by ECFTA Arts Educators and staff\, we will spend the week in both in our cheery Art Classroom and sunny Sparrow’s Nest Maker Space. \nWe offer a balance of guided art instruction and open-flow creative exploration\, along with outdoor fresh air and play! \n  \nTo ensure that your child is ready for a full day of art making and fun: \n\nA healthy mid-morning snack + and lunch.\nWe will offer a nut-free snack towards the end of each day to keep the energy going!\nRefillable water bottle\nDress for the weather and for art making!\n\n  \nAt the Elora Centre for the Arts\, we strive to support ALL children who would like to attend our programs! DESCRIPTION:2-SATURDAY WORKSHOP MARCH 29 & APRIL 5 \nLearn the tools and techniques needed to create a two-colour image through reductive linoblock printmaking with artist Ahmri Vandeborne! \nReductive lino prints are created through a process of designing an image and selectively carving away details to print each new colour layer.  \n \nParticipants will learn to create a design in two parts\, carve their lino\, and print their piece in layers. Each artist will go home with a unique edition of prints to keep for themselves or to gift away. No previous printmaking experience required. \nPlease note.
