DESCRIPTION:Artist Eileen MacArthur is back in the ECFTA classroom to lead a fast and fun\, art-packed introduction to the basics of painting for young artists ages 8 +. \nEileen will offer guidance in observational painting techniques\, transfer-methods\, colour theory\, value\, brush handling and composition\, and how to break a painting down into more manageable parts! \n \nStudents will complete a large observational still life as well as a series of studies and exercises. SUMMARY:OPEN STUDIO MONDAYS WITH EILEEN MACARTHUR
DESCRIPTION:MONDAY AFTERNOON 7-WEEK SERIES \nJoin us Mondays 12:30-3:00 pm this winter! Open Studio is designed as open-flow studio time\, loosely guided by artist Eileen MacArthur. \n \nThis series is for artists who have some experience and would like specific guidance to develop or resolve their work. Classes will offer both individual and group critiques\, as well as affording the students to opportunity to experiment with various methods and materials if they choose. The working environment will be collaborative and relaxed. \nEach week will start with a guided exercise for students to develop their critical thinking and studio practice. Week one students will start with some warm-up exercises\, make a material list and be asked to shop for their supplies for weeks 2-7. DESCRIPTION:From bright solid shapes to colourful painted still life florals\, we will ponder the beautiful and complicated inner world of French icon Henri MATISSE. Young makers will explore composition\, pattern and colour\, and learn about how artists tell stories with pictures! \nsold out  \n \nWe will also examine how artists’ work can change over time and how they find inspiration in new ways of using familiar materials.  \nOur PA days are designed to inspire 36 young artists! Led by ECFTA Arts Educators and student staff\, we will work in 2 groups in both our cheery Art Classroom and sunny Sparrow’s Nest Maker Space. \nPA days are a balance of guided-art instruction and open-flow exploration\, along with outdoor fresh air play as always! \nTo ensure that your child is ready for a full day of art making and fun! \n\nA healthy morning snack + and lunch\nAn afternoon snack will be offered to keep the energy going!\nRefillable water bottle\nIndoor shoes are recommended\nDress for the weather and for art making\n\nAt the Elora Centre for the Arts\, we strive to support ALL children who would like to attend our programs! DESCRIPTION:Join fibre artist Megan Cleland for a fun and friendly introduction to the art of needle felting in the round! \nMegan will guide participants in landscape composition\, use of a source image\, choosing needle size\, and how to choose from a selection of beautiful natural fibres\, suitable for needle felting. \nWorking on a 9″ hoop\, students will go home with a finished landscape wall piece\, and with the knowledge to continue their own felting journey! \n\nPlease note\, there is a $15 kit fee payable in cash to the instructor at the start of class. \nAll materials are included in the kit fee: wool felt backing fabric\, 2 needles\, natural and commercially dyed wool in varying colour options\, 9” embroidery hoop for framing\, foam pad. \nStudents are asked to bring a landscape image of their choice as inspiration.
