DESCRIPTION:FALL 2023 CLASSES  |  14-week series \nThursday mornings  |  September 14  – December 14\, 2023  | 10:00 am-12:00 pm \nWeekly inclusive ART & mindfulness THURSDAY WORKSHOPS for adults with (dis)abilities. \nsold out\n \nSUPPORTIVE ARTS is a unique program offering arts-based learning opportunities and compelling artistic experiences to individuals with varying abilities. We welcome adults and caregivers from Wellington County and the surrounding areas to our weekly program\, led by ECFTA Arts Educators and Mindfulness Coach. \nJoin us for a guided 2-hour workshop\, specifically designed to support adults of all abilities. Each session\, we will embrace diversity and friendship through explorations in art making\, movement\, mindfulness and music. Every week is as unique as each of our participants!  Supportive Arts is offered at a subsidized rate\, thanks to the Centre Wellington 100 Women Who Care and our Spring Fundraising Gala! \nMax. 13  |  Ages 18+ \n$252 plus HST for all 14 weeks ($18 per class) \nParticipants must register for the full season block. \nNo charge for support workers or caregivers. \n**Please note\, there is no refund for missed classes. DESCRIPTION:DRAWING 101’s FOR KIDS! with Donna Hull \n5 WEEK SATURDAY MORNING SERIES \nSaturdays\, October 7 – November 4\, 2023 \n9:30 – 12pm \nMAX. 15  |  Ages 8 + \n$150 for all 5 weeks  |  no hst  |  All materials provided. \nWake up the weekend in an immersive morning with Donna Hull and learn the drawing 101’s from an art educator with more than 30 years of experience teaching\, both in the classroom and beyond! \nThis 5-week series will focus on the wonders of nature\, drawing beautiful\, organic shapes such as shells and rocks\, mushrooms\, and root vegetables for the first 3-4 weeks and finishing with their choice of a naturalistic animal portrait. A Deer or Hare! \nFundamental Drawing skills are woven into each weekly lesson and home play exercises are encouraged! Our young artists will work on paper and be introduced to artist quality drawing materials and tools such as graphite sticks\, mechanical erasers\, tortillion blending sticks\, kneadable erasers and more! \n \nFor ages 8 and up. Join fibre artist Megan Cleland for a full day of learning the art of basket making and take home a beautiful hand-woven basket or bowl at the end class! \nIn this workshop you will learn how to make cordage from dried day lilies in the morning and in the afternoon turn that cordage into your own unique piece. \nYou will be ready to harvest or forage your own plant materials from your garden or nature walks this fall and hang to dry\, ready within days to create more hand-woven shapes to share with others! \n \nMeet Megan! \n \nMegan Cleland is a self-taught artist with a passion for felting. In 2000 Megan and her husband purchased a farm in Australia that came with 400 fine wool merinos. She started explored felting\, spinning\, and weaving for the sheer enjoyment of being surrounded by incredible fibres. Megan returned to Canada in 2008 and began to combine her love of portraiture and needle felting. Painting with wool to create realistic portraits and landscapes has been a natural progression from watercolour and pastel with exciting results. Join us for a morning of carving and lino block printing to create some DARK ART just in time for Hallowe’en! \nArtist Ray Fleming will guide you in the 101’s of printmaking and experience the magic of designing your own haunted black cat\, dancing pumpkin\, or dancing skeleton print. We will be using a carving tool\, inking with a brayer\, and pulling our own prints to save and share this October! \n \nArtists will use a soft linoleum and be instructed on how to safely use their lino tools. \nPlease bring along a drink and a small snack if you like. \nMeet Ray! DESCRIPTION:NIGHT GARDEN | PLANTS THAT KILL  \nPrintmaking for Adults | with Ray Fleming \nSUNDAY\, OCTOBER 22\, 2023  |  1:00-4:30 pm \nAGES 14+  |  MAX. 12  |   \n$55 + hst  |  All materials provided \n3 spots left!\nJoin artist and ECFTA team member\, Ray Fleming for an afternoon of DARK mark-making! \nWe will explore the shadowy world of plants that kill in this introduction to LINO BLOCK PRINTING. \nRay will offer a choice of three poisonous plants as your subject and guide you through the process of carving and lino block printing; the purple poison Acontium (Monkshood)\, Conium Maculatum (Hemlock)\, or the deadly Galerina mushroom. \n \nEach artist will have the opportunity to print up to five original images and go home with their lino block If they wish to continue carving more detail or pulling more prints. Perfect for anyone interested in the dark arts and learning a new skill! \nSource images will be provided. For anyone who has more experience or wishes to bring their own reference image/drawing\, this is welcomed. Keep in mind our time frame and make sure your design is simple enough to complete in class. Send us an email or bring along a photocopy. All materials included. \nMeet Ray! Join us for a day of illuminated old-timey pen and ink illustration! Inspired by American writer and gothic illustrator Edward Gorey’s “abcderia” The Gashlycrumb Tinies! We will explore the world of zines\, fancy-fine-line drawing and dark humour in this day to celebrate the month of Octobrrrrr! \nThis school year\, we have expanded our PA Day program to accommodate 36 young artists! We will be dividing our PA Day kids into 2 groups (ages 4-6 and 7-12) and working in both our cheery Art Classroom and the sunny Sparrow’s Nest Maker Space . \nLed by ECFTA Art Educators Alexa Collette and Stephanie Lines-Toohill. Our PD days will be a balance of guided art instruction & learning in our art classroom\, and open-creative exploration in our maker space. Along with outdoor fresh air and play during breaks\, as always! \n \n\nAbout the Instructors \nAlexa Collette recently graduated from the BA program at the University of Guelph and has been facilitating workshops and camp experiences for the past few years and loving every minute of it! Alexa is a painter\, drawer\, loves creating murals\, and collaborating with the community. She is excited to create a space for art-making and exploration at the Elora Centre for the Arts! \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nStephanie Lines-Toohill brings her magical mix of compassion\, creativity\, and mindfulness to everything she does. She reminds us to pause and find wonder in unexpected places. She helps us let go of our worries and to be brave. Steph also runs Sparrow’s Nest Makerspace\, a collaborative community space of connection. You might find her on a forest walk where she finds calming inspiration and beautiful found objects. Stephanie has been leading youth art groups and community art opportunities for over 15 years.
