DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY EXPLORERS | GUIDED ART 7-PACK FOR KIDS! \nwith RACHEL ABEL \nSundays\, May 7 – June 25\, 2023  |  9:30-11:30 am \nMax. 18  |  Ages 6-12 \n$150 for all 7 weeks (no hst)  |  All materials provided \nsold out\nJoin artist and ECFTA Arts Educator Rachel Abel for weekly art fundamentals to bring out the junior artist in you! Each week Rachel will offer young artists a guided art lesson designed to learn\, explore\, and get creative! Students will develop their skills in drawing\, painting and learn some theory to go along with them. \nClasses will be held in the ECFTA classroom and/or gallery each Sunday. \nMay 7\, May 14\, May 28\, June 4\, June 11\, June 18\, June 25 \nPlease note: No class holiday weekend Sunday\, May 21. \n\nThis weekly art program is hosted by the Elora Centre for the Arts. \nPlease contact RACHEL at rae.can.draw@outlook.com for more information or to register. \n \nAbout the artist: \nRachel Abel (they/them) \nRachel is an artist\, trained in Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo. Our June PA Day will find us exploring ways to turn 2-D designs into intuitive 3-D builds using cardboard\, paper and paint! Young designers will draw plans\, learn about scale & function\, practice adaptation when challenges guide us in other directions and build a day of surprises\, along with lots of outdoor play! Bring your BIG IDEAS and BIG IMAGINATION! \n \nLed by ECFTA Arts Educator Judy Anderson \n  \nJudy Anderson is an artist and educator and manages  programming at the Elora Centre for the Arts.  Judy is passionate for creativity in all its forms and is particularly fascinated by shadowy storytelling\, the curious imaginations of children\, and the unique abilities within each of us. Judy studied at Ontario College of Art & Design and  the University of Guelph. She makes her playful and peculiar brand of art under the name kukucaju.com \n  \n  \n  \n  \nTo ensure that your child is ready for a full day of art making and fun: \n\nA healthy mid-morning snack and lunch\nRefillable water bottle\nDress for the weather each day and for getting messy\nMasking is not required and is left to your discretion.\nWe ask that you follow UGDSB pre-screening best practices. DESCRIPTION:A FOX OR A HARE? | NEEDLE FELTING with MEGAN CLELAND \nSUNDAY\, JUNE 11\, 2023 | 10am – 4pm  \nMAX. 12 | Ages 16+ \n$130 plus HST | All materials included in kit fee. \nsold out\nPlease note\, there is a $20 material kit fee is payable in cash directly to artist at the start of class. \n\nA Fox or A Hare? What a fine pair!  \nLearn the art of needle felting a FOX or HARE portrait. Your choice! \nJoin fibre artist\, Megan Cleland in a guided workshop to needle-felt your way to create your own woolly portrait of either a fox or a hare. Megan will talk about different transfer techniques\, options for backgrounds\, colour theory and the basics of dry felting with wool. The finished piece will be framed in a 10” embroidery hoop. \nA great way to learn a new skill that you can continue to develop and experiment with on your own. Suitable for any level of experience! \n$20 kit fee is payable in cash to the instructor at the start of class. \nIncluded in the kit fee: Backing fabric with image\, foam backing\, wool\, needle\, 10” embroidery hoop. \n**Please let us know your choice of FOX or HARE after you register by emailing Judy at programming@ecfta.ca. Please put “Fox” or “Hare” in the subject line!  \n \nAbout the artist: \nMegan is a self-taught artist with a passion for felting. In 2000 Megan and her husband purchased a farm in Australia that came with 400 fine wool merinos. She started explored felting\, spinning\, and weaving for the sheer enjoyment of being surrounded by incredible fibres. Megan returned to Canada in 2008 and began to combine her love of portraiture and needle felting. The switch from amateur to professional has been a recent decision. The response to Megan’s work has driven that path. Painting with wool to create realistic portraits and landscapes has been a natural progression from watercolour and pastel with exciting results. It is more organic and has a warmth and texture that makes the viewer want to reach out and touch it. Creating hats and other wearables from Felt has become an extension to Megan’s portraits.
