DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY EXPLORERS | GUIDED ART 5-PACK FOR KIDS! \nwith RACHEL ABEL \nMarch 26-April 30\, 2023  |  9:30-11:30 am \nNo lesson Easter Sunday\, April 9. \nMax. 16  |  Ages 6-12 \n$100 for all 5 weeks (no hst)  |  All materials provided \nsold out\nJoin artist and ECFTA Arts Educator Rachel Abel for weekly art fundamentals to bring out the junior artist in you! Each week Rachel will offer young artists a guided art lesson designed to learn\, explore\, and get creative! Students will develop their skills in drawing\, painting and learn some theory to go along with them. \nClasses will be held in the ECFTA classroom and/or gallery each Sunday. \nPlease note\, this weekly art program is hosted by the Elora Centre for the Arts. \nPlease contact RACHEL at rae.can.draw@outlook.com for more information or to register. \n \nAbout the artist: \nRachel Abel (they/them) \nRachel is an artist\, trained in Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo. Rachel also holds a Montessori Teachers College diploma and brings a unique artistic appreciation and knowledge to all their teaching. In the past Rachel has worked at the Clay & Glass Gallery as a programmer and teacher and has a passion for the arts and supporting all young artists! \nRachel also manages our ECFTA Artisan Shop and you will find their welcoming smile in the gallery Thursday through Saturday. \n  \n  \n \n

DESCRIPTION:PORTRAIT DRAWING with DAVID CAESAR \nSUNDAY\, APRIL 2  |  11am – 5pm  \nMAX. 10  |  Ages 16+ \n$125 plus HST \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and sketch pad. \nJoin artist David Caesar for this fun and exciting workshop covering the basics of drawing portraits from both life and photographs. David teaches a classical approach which incorporates high realism\, with a focus on skill building. He works in the way of the old masters using keen observation and focused critique. His own work is highly detailed and masterful and his class environment encourages students to challenge themselves! \nDuring the workshop\, David will review the basic proportions of the head and face and move on to a methodology of capturing the likeness of our subject.  You will start by drawing each other (bring your happy face!) and move on to working from photos for a final project. \nFrom basic structure to final rendering\, students will come away with a new understanding of the portrait drawing process and have the tools to embark on their own projects with confidence! \nFeeling adventurous?  Bring any medium you like – pastel\, watercolour\, acrylic\, etc. Come prepared! \nALL LEVELS WELCOME! Suitable for Beginner and Intermediate students. \n \nStudents are asked to bring: \n\nsketchbook (9 x 12″ or larger)\npencils\, eraser\nsmall ruler\nif you have a photo of someone you would like to draw or a project you would like to share\, bring it along!\n\nAbout the Artist \nDavid Caesar is a Guelph-based artist who graduated from the Illustration Program at Sheridan College.  He has been teaching at the Guelph School of Art for over 15 years and has been a guest teacher and lecturer at a number of venues including highschools and Nippising University. \nHis award-winning artwork can be found in both private and public collections and he has designed a number of coins for the Royal Canadian Mint.  In 2018\, his painting “Drift” was featured on the cover of the novel “Moon of the Crusted Snow” by Waubgeshig Rice.  He is currently immersed in a multi-media speculative fiction project called “Arctic World”. https://www.davidcaesar.com/ \n \nIF YOU CANCEL \nCancellations up to 7 days prior to start date will receive a full refund\, less a $25 administrative fee.
