SUMMARY:Supportive Arts Program for Young Adults with (dis)Abilities - Fall 2022 to Spring 2023
DESCRIPTION:An inclusive\, all abilities art and mindfulness workshop for young adults with (dis)abilities 18+ \nSUPPORTIVE ARTS is a unique program supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation\, offering arts-based learning opportunities and compelling artistic experiences to individuals with (dis)abilities living in the community. We welcome adults and caregivers from Wellington County and the surrounding areas to our weekly program. Led by ECFTA Arts Educators and Mindfulness Coaches.  The Supportive Arts program has now expanded to 4 sessions per week. \nTHE PROGRAM: Join us for a guided 2-hour workshop\, specifically designed to support adults of all abilities. Each session\, we will embrace diversity and friendship through explorations in art making\, movement\, mindfulness and music. Every week is as unique as each of our participants!  Supportive Arts is offered free of charge to all participants and support companions\, thanks to the generous support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. \n \n \nFALL 2022 – SPRING 2023 \nWe offer four\, 2-hour sessions per week\, Mondays\, Wednesdays and Thursdays\, between Sept and June. \nOUR SPACE: Our bright and cheerful ECFTA classroom is wheelchair accessible and adheres to all WDGPH covid-19 protocols.  In warm temperatures\, we may run programming outside in our 1500 square foot big top tent! \nPlease contact us for more information about the program or for availability in our Supportive Arts program! \nVisit our Facebook page for photos and weekly updates! \n\nLOOKING TO VOLUNTEER? \nWe are welcoming new volunteers for our Fall 2022- 2023 season! If you looking for a way to meaningfully engage with your community and have a couple hours a week to assist one of our Supportive Arts’ participants in our cheery studio classroom setting\, please contact us! \n\nOTF Grant Boost:  The Ontario Trillium Foundation has supported this program with a 3-year grant boost\, allowing us to offer additional classes each year.  Our 2021 Fall program has expanded to 3 workshops a week\, with plans to expand to 4 times a week in the fall of 2022. \n  \nThe Ontario Trillium Foundation investment in this project will support positive change in our community to make it healthier and more vibrant over the next 3 years. SUMMARY:A Fox or A Hare? | Needle Felting with Megan Cleland
DESCRIPTION:A FOX OR A HARE? | NEEDLE FELTING with MEGAN CLELAND \nSUNDAY\, JUNE 11\, 2023 | 10am – 4pm  \nMAX. 12 | Ages 16+ \n$130 plus HST | All materials included in kit fee. \nsold out\nPlease note\, there is a $20 material kit fee is payable in cash directly to artist at the start of class. \n\nA Fox or A Hare? What a fine pair!  \nLearn the art of needle felting a FOX or HARE portrait. Your choice! \nJoin fibre artist\, Megan Cleland in a guided workshop to needle-felt your way to create your own woolly portrait of either a fox or a hare. Megan will talk about different transfer techniques\, options for backgrounds\, colour theory and the basics of dry felting with wool. The finished piece will be framed in a 10” embroidery hoop. \nA great way to learn a new skill that you can continue to develop and experiment with on your own. Suitable for any level of experience! \n$20 kit fee is payable in cash to the instructor at the start of class. \nIncluded in the kit fee: Backing fabric with image\, foam backing\, wool\, needle\, 10” embroidery hoop. \n**Please let us know your choice of FOX or HARE after you register by emailing Judy at programming@ecfta.ca. Please put “Fox” or “Hare” in the subject line!  \n \nAbout the artist: \nMegan is a self-taught artist with a passion for felting. In 2000 Megan and her husband purchased a farm in Australia that came with 400 fine wool merinos. She started explored felting\, spinning\, and weaving for the sheer enjoyment of being surrounded by incredible fibres. Megan returned to Canada in 2008 and began to combine her love of portraiture and needle felting. The switch from amateur to professional has been a recent decision. The response to Megan’s work has driven that path. Painting with wool to create realistic portraits and landscapes has been a natural progression from watercolour and pastel with exciting results. It is more organic and has a warmth and texture that makes the viewer want to reach out and touch it. Creating hats and other wearables from Felt has become an extension to Megan’s portraits.
