Ready for some “serious” artist-time in our studio classroom for an afternoon of learning and exploration? Young makers ages 8 to 13, we have an jam-packed afternoon ready for you with artist & educator Eileen MacArthur! In this half day workshop, we will be learning colour theory (colour wheel, value) and exploring different lines and marks, along with some fresh air, outdoor time!
Working with a still life set up in the studio, Eileen will guide students in creating textures and colours (fabric, flowers and seashells). We will be looking at the work of various historical and contemporary artists for inspiration and completing 2-3 smaller projects and combining approaches, including drawing basics, collaging, mark making, and then work on the entire piece as a whole with paint and mixed media towards one final masterpiece!
Please send along a nut-free snack for a break, water bottle, and dress for art making!
We will be spending some time outside. Please ensure that clothing is weather appropriate.
