The Elora Centre for the Arts is offering a series of presentations and school tours for all student levels to coincide with our upcoming group exhibition Portraits and People: An Assembly of Forms and Chasing Shadows, the solo exhibition by celebrated artist, author, and illustrator Elly MacKay.
Elly MacKay Presentation
On Friday October 13th, Elly MacKay will be in the gallery at the Elora Centre for the Arts. Her presentation will include a tour of the Chasing Shadows exhibition, a book reading, and a demonstration of her unique way of creating illustrations using cut-paper, layering, and lighting techniques for photographing scenes. Space is limited.

*Each Session is 1 HR. Maximum 50 students per session.

Shadow Box Workshop
Create beautiful shadow box dioramas inspired by the works of artist, author and illustrator Elly Mackay. School tours include guided gallery visit and hands-on artmaking with ECFTA arts teachers. 2hr sessions, morning or afternoon. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to book. Cubist Portrait Workshop
Building on the foundational elements of Cubism, this workshop uses Spanish artist Pablo Picasso as inspiration for students to create their own portraits with paper, ink and oil pastel. Workshops will include a short presentation of the artist and Cubism as well as a guided tour of both galleries. 2hr sessions, morning or afternoon. Suitable for grades 3 and up. Shadow Puppet Making Workshop
Explore the art of light and shadow in this intermediate/senior level curriculum-based workshop inspired by the works of Elly MacKay. Students will be given a guided gallery tour, introduced to some of the social and cultural aspects of shadow theatre and create their own articulated puppets as a performative object.
