Giving Tuesday Campaign: Satellite Learning & Art Stations for Students
December 1 @ 8:00 am - 11:59 pm
Mark your calendars! Giving Tuesday is Tuesday December 1st!
After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s Giving Tuesday.
A recent local on-line poll revealed that 74% of respondents believe there is a need for student work spaces outside the home. High school and college/university students have being proportionately disadvantaged during COVID-19 restrictions and many struggle with at-home learning for various reasons. Mental health and the lack of creative outlet continue to be a concern, and we believe that helping students stay engaged in their education and feel less isolated will improve their studies and benefit individual and family mental health.
The “Satellite Learning & Art Stations for Students” program will run for 9 weeks this winter, and will utilize two large spaces within the Elora Centre for the Arts – the classroom and the main gallery will be set up to offer socially distanced stations where students can complete their school work, benefit from artistic and creative explorations, feel less isolated, and be supported by educational assistants (retired teachers) and staff from the Centre.
Over the course of the program, this will include over 864 spots for students in our community.
All necessary health and safety precautions will be adhered to, based on Public Health guidelines.
