Revitalized for 2022! A consistent calendar of lunches are planned for the year (2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month), with a central location for hosting the lunches at the Elora Centre for the Arts.
The goal of the Bungalow lunch program is to help create more resilient, equitable communities for individuals and families; improve mental well-being and COVID recovery though connection with others; address nutrition needs in the community by offering healthy meals; and create volunteer opportunities.
PLEASE NOTE! FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY we will be offering tasty nutritious meals for pick up and delivery. Look for updated information and contact info on Facebook (@Community Lunch at Bungalow 55). Everyone is welcome to come to the Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA) any time between 12:00 -1:30, with your take- out containers ( we will have extra) and luncheon volunteers will package your meal to go. If you wish to enter the ECFTA, masks and vaccine status will be required, as well as social distancing and numbers will be limited to five people at a time. We thank you for your understanding and patience while our communities work to overcome Covid.
The program is a collaboration of community – from volunteers who collect food donations from our giving community, to restauranteurs, grocers and farmers. It engages volunteers who help prep and prepare the food in the kitchen at St. John’s Anglican Church, with oversight by a head cook. It relies on volunteers who provide transportation for luncheon participants who have mobility issues or don’t own a car or the delivery of leftover food to community members who couldn’t attend in person.
The lunch program is FREE and everyone is welcome – thanks to the generosity of the Centre Wellington Community Foundation, local community members and restaurants who donate food, and our wonderful volunteers!!!
Donations are accepted for those who are able to.
