Brad Copping – Artist Talk & Portage to the Grand River
August 19 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Exhibiting artist Brad Copping will be discussing his current solo exhibition Setting afloat on a river in spate and the Mirrored Canoe Project (2015) in the Minarovich Gallery of the ECFTA on August 19th. Listen to him speak about his artist in residency at the Canadian Canoe Museum and his experience paddling Reflections- a 16’ cedar strip canoe of mirrored glass- 135km through the canals and waterways linking the Lommel Glazenhuis in Belgium with the National Glass Museum in Leerdam, Holland.
Immediately following the artist talk, Copping will be portaging his canoe of mirrored glass to Bissell Park and setting afloat on the Grand River. Those interested in participating in the portage are invited to bring their canoes or kayaks to the gallery. Join the artist on the river and then watch from the water as the mirrored canoe sculpture is hoisted above the riverbank at Bissell Park to light the night for Riverfest.
Setting afloat on a river in spate runs through September 3rd in the Minarovich Gallery at the ECFTA. Exhibition sponsored by Riverfest Elora and ECOH.
